Professional Full-Time Tutors
Our 1-to-1 home tutors are the same teachers that teach in our centre classes. Many of our teachers are scholarship recipients themselves, with numerous 1st Class Honours. All teachers are our full-time staff, and most have 7-15yrs of experience. Many teachers are also MOE registered.
Improvement In Results
Our Home Tuition is a highly effective Science tuition programme, and students generally see a visible improvement in results. This is because students receive very individualised attention in 1-to-1 lessons, and teachers are able to directly focus on a student’s weak areas. As the student improves, tutors expose the student to more advanced questions so they gradually start to outperform their peers.
Specialised Lesson Plans
Our tutors prepare lesson plans specifically for each student, so that the lessons fit the learning curve of that particular student. Lessons are also structured to effectively use tuition time. Our Home Tution program uses our Intensive Syllabus materials. All materials are provided by us, and students will have everything they need for the class.
1-to-1 Classrooms Available
If your home is not conducive for having home tuition, we have 1-to-1 classrooms available as well. There is no extra charge to use these rooms (although they are subject to availability). These rooms are useful for students who need a quiet & comfortable environment to focus during lessons.

Why is there a wide range of fees for tutors?
Our tutor fees vary due to our diverse team of science specialists, each with unique qualifications and teaching experience. Generally, fees are higher for teachers with extensive experience and higher qualifications. The four main factors influencing our teachers’ fees are:
- Student Improvement Rate
- Experience Level of Tutor
- Positive Parental Feedback
- Academic Qualifications of Tutor
1. Student Improvement
Students seek science tuition to master the subject and boost their grades. We recognize this goal, so each teacher is dedicated to enhancing every student’s performance in Science. Teachers who excel in teaching and achieve significant student improvement are more sought after and tend to have higher fees.
2. Experience Level
Teachers with more years of experience, especially those with backgrounds in MOE schools, typically have higher fees. However, all our teachers have at least five years of teaching experience. While more experience doesn’t always equate to better teaching, we generally observe a positive correlation between a teacher’s experience and their effectiveness in the classroom.
3. Positive Parental Feedback
We routinely seek feedback from parents regarding the performance and teaching abilities of our home tutors. We inquire if teachers are (a) reliable, (b) punctual, and (c) proactive in teaching and grading tasks. Tutors who demonstrate seriousness and professionalism in their work are rewarded with higher salaries.
4. Academic Qualifications
Our current teaching team includes alumni from top universities worldwide. Many of our teachers were scholarship recipients and have demonstrated exceptional academic dedication. Those with outstanding academic credentials and scholarship merits generally have slightly higher fee rates.

Lesson Breakdown
Our home tuition lessons follow the Intensive Syllabus Plan, tailored to meet the specific needs of each student. Typically, our classes consist of (1) tutorials and (2) practice and feedback sessions. Tutorials introduce new topics and provide an overall understanding of the subject. Teachers review class handouts and school notes with students, coaching them in problem-solving methods. Practice and feedback sessions form the core of our home tuition curriculum, enabling students to master the subject matter through continuous practice and revision.
Curriculum Goals
Our primary objective is to help students excel in their exams. From the first lesson, teachers review the student’s past exam papers to quickly develop an effective study plan. Our home tuition program is initially focused on ensuring a thorough understanding of the topics and subject matter. Later, we emphasize improving problem-solving skills through practice and revision. Due to the highly customized and tailored nature of our lessons, students in our home tuition program generally progress faster than those in group-based tuition.

Top Qualifications
Our success in Science education largely stems from our exceptional team of teachers. We are dedicated to assembling one of the most qualified and experienced groups of Science educators in Singapore. Our rigorous selection process ensures that all teachers are evaluated quarterly through student assessments and parental feedback. Beyond teaching proficiency, we highly value teachers who exhibit responsibility toward their students and proactive engagement in their teaching tasks.
Extensive Experience
We require a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience for our hires, with most of our educators having between 7 to 15 years in the field. Experience is crucial not only for mastering the subject matter but also for addressing the diverse needs of students. Teachers with extensive experience are often better at presenting content in an understandable and engaging manner. Our top educators excel in building strong connections with students, earning their trust, and motivating them to improve in the subject.
Comprehensive Support for Every Child
Even after assigning a home tutor to your child, they receive the support of our entire team at The Science Lab. Each student is paired with a tutor and a supervising teacher at our office, who collaboratively manage the lesson plan and monitor academic progress. If a tutor is unavailable due to illness, we provide alternative teachers to ensure that no lessons are missed, especially during critical times like exams. Additionally, students can seek further assistance from other teachers at our center if needed. At The Science Lab, we are dedicated to supporting every student comprehensively.
Teacher-Parent Communication Updates
We believe that students make the most progress when their parents are actively involved in their education. To keep parents informed, we provide updates at least once a month about their child’s progress and any concerns that may arise. If needed, we may request a meeting at our office to discuss the child’s learning challenges and the strategies we’re implementing to assist their improvement. We value open and honest communication between tutors and parents, as it is essential for optimizing our efforts to support your child’s development.
Our Tuition Coordinators
Speak With Us Today
If you would like to ask about the possibility of home tuition, call us at 6475-0624 (we are open everyday, including public holidays). We will explain our Home Tuition programme works. Whether you want to know how to select a teacher, or whether you simply want to ask about our schedule, our tuition coordination team is here to help you.
WhatsApp Groups for Seamless Communication
We typically set up WhatsApp groups that include parents, students, and tutors to facilitate smooth communication. This setup allows us to engage directly with students while keeping parents informed about weekly lesson plans and homework assignments.
Option to Transition to Group Classes
Students who show significant improvement through home tuition may opt to join our group classes. These classes offer a more interactive environment where students benefit from sharing ideas and collaborating with peers. Additionally, group class fees are generally lower than those for home tuition.
Quarterly Feedback from Parents
Each quarter, we reach out to parents to review their experiences with their child’s assigned tutor. We specifically assess whether the tutor has (1) been punctual, (2) maintained professionalism and adhered to appointments, and (3) provided effective teaching. This feedback helps us ensure that tutors are performing well and, if needed, allows us to make changes to better support your child’s progress.
